Just as people have an intelligence for processing and manipulating thoughts and ideas, we have a similar capacity for understanding and using emotions. Know as Emotional Intelligence (EQ), it’s the ability to consciously understand and use our emotions to get optimal results from our relationships with ourselves and others. Researchers have identified key skills or fundamentals of Emotional Intelligence. When practiced, these skills allow us to use the information we’re getting from our feelings to improve our effectiveness, relationships, health, and quality of life.
This two-part course is designed to help individuals who are experiencing inappropriate expression of frustration and anger to develop emotional self-regulation skills for responding to the stressors of life more calmly and in a professional manner. It provides eight proven behavioral change concepts and techniques that are easily learned and can be immediately applied to your work, family and other personal life situations. As part of your participation, you will become aware of how your thoughts, choices and actions affect outcomes from your interpersonal interactions. Thought-provoking written exercises will give you opportunities to revisit past incidents and analyze why things happened the way they did, become aware of how you contributed to what happened, and then allow you to contemplate how you can make better choices. You’ll also learn skills for communicating effectively with others and resolving conflict in even the most stressful situations. As a result, your relationships can improve and collaborative solutions are more likely to be worked out whenever disagreements and conflict arise.
As you proceed through the two parts of the course, you’ll create a Personal Change Practice Plan for each part that will help encourage you and be a reminder of how to apply the eight skills you learned to specific situations in your personal and workplace settings. The class is held in a nonjudgmental, uplifting class setting where participants can feel inspired and supported by their classmates. Participants receive a certificate of completion immediately at completion of the class.
Weekend Anger Management Class - Part 1 (8 Hours) 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuition: $95 Part 1 of our weekend class provides exercises to help participants identify anger triggers, behaviors and beliefs that make them vulnerable to anger arousal and expression. Anger management skills and techniques are introduced and practiced through easy-to-use worksheets, and then as a group, discussed how to apply them in real life settings. As the class progresses, each student creates a individual practice plan to encourage continual practice of the skills learned once the class is completed. Participants learn how to:
prevent impulsive reactions by understanding how anger manifests
identify and calm their physical arousal
restructure anger-inflaming thoughts
modify beliefs that make them more vulnerable to irritation, frustration, anger and disappointment
communicate with others in a way that improves stressful situations
appropriately release the emotional energy of anger so it doesn't build up
utilize relaxation techniques to reduce the stress in their lives
make healthy diet choices for reducing anger arousal and stress
Weekend Anger Management Class - Part 2 (8 Hours) 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Tuition $95 Part 2 of our weekend class builds on the concepts learned in Part 1 of the class. As the class progresses, each student creates a individual practice plan to encourage continual practice of the skills learned once the class is completed. In this class, participants develop key skills of their Emotional Intelligence by learning how to:
become aware of how our thoughts, habits and beliefs control our choices
pause before responding in stressful situations to make optimal choices in what to say and do
develop Core Values to deal with difficult family and workplace situations
recognize the warning signs of abuse and domestic violence
identify the deeper feelings underneath their anger as a way to address the real issues
let go of resentment and using forgeivness to move beyond past hurts
switch from blaming others to making self-empowering Need-Fulfillment Responses
develop empathy to become more accepting of the needs, feelings and views of others and their situations
apply Five Skills for Regulating Relationship Conflict
adopt a collaborative conflict resolution style that facilitates win-win outcomes
